Bai Gallery is situated in the Sunhe area of Beijing’s Chaoyang District. Over the past decade, Sunhe has emerged as a significant contemporary art hub, distinguished by its proximity to major academic institutions such as the Chinese National Academy of Oil Painting and the CAFA Art Museum, fostering a rich intellectual and artistic environment. Located approximately seven kilometers from the renowned 798 Art District, Sunhe represents a new chapter in Beijing’s evolving art landscape, creating a dynamic dialogue between established and emerging centers of contemporary art. Within a three-kilometer radius, the area hosts a concentration of prominent private museums—including the Luo Hong Art Museum, and Red Brick Art Museum etc.—alongside numerous contemporary art galleries. This coexistence of public and private exhibition spaces has contributed to the formation of a vibrant and multifaceted art district.

Leveraging the clustering effect of adjacent high-end residential communities, Sunhe has attracted a concentrated presence of active art professionals and seasoned collectors. Bai Gallery is positioned adjacent to three villa enclaves and two premium residential developments, with surrounding amenities such as international schools, golf clubs, and equestrian centers. These features have drawn much of Beijing’s high-net-worth population, including figures from media, entertainment, and cultural industries. The area also maintains its status as a traditional residential neighborhood for expatriates, particularly diplomats, fostering a cosmopolitan atmosphere. This confluence of cultures has given rise to a self-sustaining micro-ecosystem comprising artists, collectors, and curators.

The glazed tiles of the Forbidden City have reflected sunlight for over a millennium, while Chinese contemporary art has undergone four decades of transformation and resilience. With its unparalleled cultural depth and institutional resources, Beijing stands as the undisputed center of China’s contemporary art scene. Within this thriving urban nexus of artistic energy, Bai Gallery embraces the philosophical principle of “emptiness gives rise to white” (xū shì shēng bái), positioning itself as a forward-looking platform for emerging artistic voices.
